Welcome to the website of the Royal Thai Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. 

This webpage has been developed with a vision of enhancing access to relevant information about Thailand, and aims to provide useful and interesting information on a wide range of topics. It also strives to offer comprehensive consular information to Thai citizens living in South Africa, as well as citizens of South Africa and other African countries intending on visiting Thailand.

Thailand and South Africa established consular relations in 1992 and full diplomatic relations during 1993. The main objective of this webpage is to promote a better understanding and to strengthen relations and enhance cooperation between Thailand and South Africa at all levels.

    Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva presented the Government’s 6 Months Performance Report


    On 6 August 2009, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of Thailand made a presentation of his Government’s performance over the past six months (January to June 2009) at the Government House in Bangkok.

    He noted that when his government came into power in in December 2008, Thailand and Thai people were facing difficult times due to both the economic and political crises without having a clear view of a way out, in light of this, he and his Government were determined from their very first day in office to work hard for the well-being of all Thai people.

    Given the situation, the most immediate task that the Government had to do was to help those most vulnerable and most at risk, its second task to find measures to address the economic and political crises, and, last but not least, to redesign and strengthen the foundation to ensure that Thailand is prepared to face future challenges. The Government has since been working towards all three goals in tandem, with clearly set priorities and plans.
